Staining of slides

RAL Diff Quik stain has been provided in the initial digital cytology scanner kit, but any Diff Quik stain can be used. It is highly recommended to use a separate set of stains for fecal and ear cytology samples to avoid contamination of other cytology samples.

The following procedure is recommended to prevent under staining regardless of the type of Diff Quik used.

  • Make sure sample is completely dry prior to staining

  • 15 seconds in fixative

  • 30 seconds in solution 1 (red stain)

    Red Stain
  • 30 seconds in solution 2 (blue or violet stain)

    Violet Stain
  • Gentle, brief cold water rinse on the back of the slide

  • Allow slides to dry completely prior to scanning
