Wavelength (nm) & the Full Spectrum

• Wavelength determines the probability of absorption vs scattering in each type of material (tissue).
• This is all technically "electromagnetic radiation", but the name and effect vary by wavelength (top acis), and equivalently by frequency and energy (bottom axes).
• The blue curve represents the absorption of water throughout the spectrum.
