Template Panel

The Template tool will activate the template panel when pressed. The template panel slides out on the left side and will replace the thumbnail panel.

If the image viewport is in Full Screen mode, the side panels are disabled, and so the template panel will not be displayed. Double click the image to disable Full Screen mode and adjust the Viewport layout to 1x1 for a single image view with templating.
The template tool will toggle the panel on and off. To close the template panel, press on the template tool and the template panel will be replaced with the thumbnail panel.
Apply Template
There are two methods to add a template to the image in the viewport.
Start by navigating the template tree to the desired template file.
Once the desired template file is located, the user may either drag and drop the template on the image, or select the name of the template and press the Apply button.
After a template is applied, the Edit Annotation tool is immediately activated. This will allow the user to quickly manipulate the template.
Manipulate Templates
After a template is placed on an image in the viewport, the display of the template may be edited by the user. To edit a template positioning on the image, the Edit Annotation tool must be active.
This tool can be activated by pressing the icon on the toolbar or by using the shortcut key e
. This is an interactive tool. While active, you can manipulate annotations you have previously placed on the image including templates. When the cursor gets close enough to one of the annotations grab points, it will turn orange.

is not configured for Edit Template tool, click here to adjust the shortcut settings in user preferences.
Move Templates
Templates can be moved within the active image on the viewport.
To move a template, with the Edit Annotation tool active, press on the center red grab point to relocate the template to a different location. To rotate a template around the center red grab point, with the Edit Annotation tool active, press on the lower left red grab point and rotate as needed.
Adjust Templates
Templates can potentially be adjusted in Laterality, Orientation, Color, and Size.

If the template already applied to the image has a view in a different laterality or orientation, the corresponding button will appear below the template list, just above the Apply button.

The user can also adjust the color of the template by selecting on the color block labeled Template Color and using the Color Picker to select a specific template color.

The templates are listed in a folder structure. All templates within the folder are available for quick access with the mouse wheel. Scrolling the wheel up or down will quickly adjust the active template one size up or down within the folder list.
Template Overlay
When a template is placed on an image, a text overlay is associate with the template drawing. This text overlay will give additional information related to the specific template that is in use.
Move Template Overlay
The text overlay for a template is automatically positioned to the upper right of the template when placed on an image.
The template text overlay can be moved to a different location within the viewport.
With the Edit Annotation tool enabled (shortcut key e
), press on the red grab point connected to the text overlay and drag it to the desired location.
Adjust Template Overlay
The text overlay for a template is automatically generated when a template is placed on the image. The amount of information displayed is customizable within the Viewer User Preferences. By default, all information available is displayed. To adjust the amount displayed, see Settings.
Favorite Templates
The Template Panel contains a tree that lists all available templates. Above the template tree is a Favorites section.

The favorites section allows the user to add folders and individual template files for quick access.
Add Favorite Template
To add a template to the Favorites section, navigate through the template tree and press the name of the desired template so the name is highlighted.
Press the star icon in the Favorites section to mark the highlighted template as a favorite.
The New Favorite dialog will be displayed.

The user will select which folder will hold the new favorite template folder. Selecting the Favorites folder will put the template folder under the main Favorites folder.
The name of the favorite will be the name of the template folder, but the user has the ability to customize the folder name with the displayed text box.
Once the folder and name are complete, press OK to save the new favorite template folder. Press Cancel to go back without saving the template folder as a favorite.

The saved template folder will be added to the selected folder. If the default “Favorites” folder is selected, the new folder will be displayed below the Favorites folder.
Add Favorite Template Folder
To add a folder or a collection of templates to the Favorites section, navigate through the template tree and press the name of the desired template folder so the name is highlighted. A favorite folder must be the lowest level folder available.
Press the star icon in the Favorites section to mark the highlighted template as a favorite.

The New Favorite dialog will be displayed.
The user will select which folder will hold the favorite template. Selecting the Favorites folder will put the individual template within the main Favorites folder.
The name of the favorite will be the name of the template file, but the user has the ability to customize this name with the displayed text box.
Once the folder and name are complete, press OK to save the new favorite template file. Press Cancel to go back without saving the template as a favorite.

The saved template will be added to the selected folder. If the default “Favorites” folder is selected, the individual favorites will be displayed below the favorite folders.
Rename Favorite
A user may modify the names of favorite folders and template files at any time.
The user will first press on the name of the favorite to edit so the row becomes highlighted.

When a favorite is highlighted, the Delete and Rename buttons will become active and the favorite star will be displayed in yellow indicating the row is an active favorite template.
Press the Rename button.
A dialog requesting the new name will be displayed.

Adjust the name as desired and press OK to save the changes. Press Cancel to go back without saving.

Once the changes are confirmed, the sorting order of the favorites will be updated to reflect the changes made.
Delete Favorite
Favorites may change and need to be removed from the favorites list. The user may remove a favorite from the favorites list section by using the Delete button or by the star icon.
The user will first select the favorite folder or template is to be deleted and press the Delete button.
A dialog box will be displayed.

Press OK to confirm the deletion. Press Cancel to go back without deleting.
Once the changes are confirmed, the deleted favorite will not appear in the top Favorites section. The template will still be available in the complete Template tree below the Favorites section.
The user may also press the yellow star icon to delete the favorite template or template folder. The process is identical to using the delete button.
New Template Folder
Favorite templates may be organized into custom groups by using Favorite folders.
To add a new folder, the user will first select the Favorites top folder to highlight the row. Then press the New Folder button.

New favorite folders are only available one level deep and cannot be nested under sub folders. New folders are only available under the main Favorites folder.
A dialog box will be displayed confirming the name of the new favorites folder.

Enter the name for the folder and press OK to save. Press Cancel to go back without saving. The new favorite template folder will be displayed in the Favorites template folder section and will be empty as no templates have been saved to the folder yet.

After a new template folder is created, the user may now add favorite templates to the new folder as discussed here.
